How We Turned a Spicy Gummy Bear Into a Pair of Custom Grillz
Gummy Bear Grillz Made for Huer Frank’s RedHot Spicy Gummy Bears
Every once in a while, a custom jewelry project comes across our bench that makes everyone stop and take a second look.
This was one of those projects.
From a Gummy Bear to Custom Grillz
At Gold Teeth Canada, we're used to creating custom grillz, but this one started with something you wouldn't normally expect to see in a jewelry workshop a Huer Frank's RedHot Spicy Gummy Bear.
The idea was to take that little gummy bear and turn it into something completely different: a piece of jewelry that was bold, playful, and still looked like the gummy bear everyone recognized.
So, we got to work.
We started by creating the gummy bear design specifically for the grillz. This wasn't a design we pulled from a standard catalog or something we had sitting around. The entire piece was custom designed and handcrafted for the project.
More Than 140 Natural Rubies — Set One by One
Once the shape was right, it was time to decide how we were going to bring it to life.
We chose 10K rose gold for the foundation. The warm color of the rose gold gave us the perfect base for what came next — natural rubies.
And we didn't want just a few rubies here and there.
We wanted the entire gummy bear to have that deep red, fully iced-out appearance.
More than 140 natural rubies went into the design, with each stone being individually hand-set. One by one, the stones were carefully placed across the gummy bear, following its curves and details.
The standout detail of this project is the 140+ natural rubies covering the gummy bear design.
Each stone was individually hand-set.
With this many stones packed into such a small and detailed design, there isn't much room for error. Every ruby has to work with the stones around it while following the shape of the gummy bear.
The goal was to create that fully iced-out appearance without losing the original shape and character of the gummy bear.
When you look at the finished grillz, you can see how closely the stones follow the curves and details of the design.
That's where the craftsmanship really shows.
Fully Handcrafted From Start to Finish
One of the things we are most proud of with this project is how much of the work went into the details.
For the metal, we went with 10K rose gold.
The warm tone of rose gold works especially well with the deep red color of the natural rubies. Instead of trying to hide the metal, we wanted it to become part of the overall design.
The combination of rose gold and red natural rubies gives the finished gummy bear grillz a look that feels playful at first glance, but incredibly detailed when you see them up close.
And that's what makes custom jewelry so much fun.
You can take something as familiar as a gummy bear and completely change how it looks and feels by using precious metals and gemstones.
From the Gummy Bear Package to the Final Grillz
One of our favorite parts of this project was seeing the connection between the original product and the finished jewelry.The familiar red gummy bear inspired the shape and color direction. From there, the concept became a jewelry design, the jewelry design became a custom piece, and eventually we had the finished 10K Rose Gold Gummy Bear Grillz.
The final result brings together three things that don't normally meet:
Gummy bears. Hot sauce culture. And fine custom jewelry.
That's what makes custom work so exciting.
You don't always have to follow traditional jewelry designs. Sometimes the best pieces come from taking something completely unexpected and turning it into something you can wear.
What started as a unique concept became a one-of-a-kind piece of custom jewelry.
And that's what we love most about making custom Grillz there really isn't a limit to what can be created when the idea is unique enough.
